This is an interesting form of photography - the art of photographing small items close up. I am still getting the hang of this. When I photographed these images, I messed up and got the effects of F-stops backwards. By working with telescopes, I should have known that the smaller the F-stop, the more dramatic the focus is with varying distance. I got it backwards when I set up the camera. I used a low F-stop when it should have been set to a slower speed. I'm going to post the images anyway, because they still look kinda cool.
This one, which I titled "Broken Tree" came out pretty good actually, and is the best of the lot, because the distance from the target was a little farther then the next two, and the depth of field is less.
Although not THAT bad, you will notice the edges of the fungus is sharp, but the interior is blurred. This was a VERY close in shot, only a few inches away from the subject, so the blur ratio is much greater.
This is the third of this set. The same thing happened with this image. It is quite colorful, so I decided to put it up as well.
So this is my first attempt at macro-photography. I am going to do more, and hopefully the images will improve with practice.
